Master of Ministry in Spanish

Program
Are you currently serving the Lord in a Hispanic community and sense that you need to be better equipped? Have you already had ministerial training but are seeking preparation and development that addresses the new challenges of a multicultural context? Then this Master of Ministry at Olivet is for you.
This program, taught completely in Spanish, is designed around four key areas for graduate ministerial formation: biblical knowledge, theological knowledge, analysis and design of ministerial practices, and personal spiritual development and formation. As you will come to appreciate, our program reveals an integral focus in ministry.
What options are open to you after graduating from the Master of Ministry program? The integral focus of ministry, which is the basis of this program, will equip you to serve in many fields of ministry, some of which require or can lead to ordination, while others do not. On one hand, students may become pastors, evangelists, or church planters in multicultural contexts such as those in the United States or Canada. On the other hand, it is also possible to serve in areas that do not necessarily require ordination, such as church and parachurch organizations, among others.
The program is well suited for those wishing to be ordained. First, the teaching team is composed of ordained ministers with vast, fruitful experience in diverse areas of ministry. Second, the content of the program allows students to complete some – but not all – ordination requirements for the Church of the Nazarene. In addition, each district in the Church of the Nazarene provides opportunities to complete ordination requirements, as well as continuing education courses at the district level.
Program Requirements
The Master of Ministry program is taught almost entirely online, with a few courses being taught on Olivet’s Bourbonnais campus as one-week intensives during the summer. This format is a great advantage, especially for those who, due to family, work, or ministry commitments, are unable to complete a residential program far from home.
The Master of Ministry program in Spanish requires 30 credit hours. It is estimated that this program can be completed in two and a half years. Typically those in the program form a cohort, or group of people who complete the program together, facilitating interaction and group work for the length of the program.
Admission Requirements
Prospective students should meet the general admission requirements of Olivet’s School of Graduate & Continuing Studies and should hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, with a minimum GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale). A bachelor’s degree or “licenciatura” in theology from a recognized Latin American theological seminary (at the university level) is also acceptable. Each applicant will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
